It's a hard balance being a working parent...

I know it's been a long while since I've updated the blog. I thought the balancing act of working and being a parent would get easier as he got older, but I feel like it is getting a little more difficult. With each stage Bennett is getting more interactive and more fun to play with. I find it hard to find to do much besides get him fed, played with, to bed and then myself to bed!

We had Bennett's 9 month check up this week. He is 23lbs 12 oz. and 29 inches long. He is a healthy little boy. We do still struggle with sleeping and getting to bed. Going to bed was going really well up until this past weekend, who knows why. He is teething so that could be part of it.

In MN the weather has been interesting. Cold, warm, raining, snowing, blizzard, mild, you name it we've had it this winter. Brian and I are continue to be greatful that we sold the lawn and snow business. It hasn't snowed much, but it did do a pretty decent dump just around Xmas time! I don't have much more to share. I hope everyone enjoys the pictures.

Sorry to those of you who check this...I haven't blogged in awhile. Bennett has grown and changed so much. He is now 5 months old. It's hard to believe 5 months has already gone by. Bennett started eating baby food this past month. We started him on Veggies. His favorites are carrots and sweet potatoes. I did give him bannana's on Friday. My mom and I were laughing out loud. He kept lunging towards the food! He couldn't get enough of them.

Being back at work is kind of nice. I do enjoy getting out and doing other things I like. I just wish we spent 4 hours at work and 10 hours with our family...instead of the other way around!

To those of you who do look at this Thanks for checking in! I will work on posting more frequently. Take care

Back at Work

I've been back to work for about a mont now! I was nervous about how it was going to go, but it ended up being ok. Bennett stays with my parents so that has made the transition much easier. Bennett enjoys seeing his grandparents every day so that helps with dropping him off!!

My mom, Bennett and I went on a trip to Chicago to visit Nicole. Bennett did such a fantastic job in the car ride both my mom and I were very suprised. He even did a great job during the 3 hour traffic jam!!!!!!!
We started Bennett on Rice Cereal...It's hard to believe that we are already at that stage. He's going to be crawling, walking, and talking before we know it. I am taking advantage that he still loves to snuggle....I know that also ends quickly.

I just wanted to update a little bit, I have to run for now, but I'll post again soon.

I had to go back to work this week. It is a big mix of emotions. I enjoy my job, but everything does change once you have a baby. I would love to work part time and get paid full time!!! I think that is probably everyone's wish! I do feel lucky because my parents are watching Bennett while I work. He does love seeing them so it makes it a little easier to leave him and go to work.

Weekend at the Cabin

Our friends Tim and Kelly invited all of us up to their cabin a couple of weeks ago. Bennett did pretty good besides the fact that he didn't sleep all day on Saturday and we were sleeping through the night until that weekend! Oh Well I'm sure we will get back there. :)

Bennett's First 4th of July!

Bennett enjoyed his first 4th of July. Unfortunately the weather was cloudy and rainy most of the day. In spite of the weather we still made it to a parade and hung out at the neighbors all day!! Bennett was sleeping through the parade so we were unable to get any family photos there.

We spent some time up at my parents house today before they left for Canada. Bennett has decided that his grampa is very funny. He likes to smile and laugh at him!

We can't believe how big Bennett has gotten and how much he is developing. I have to go back to work Part time on July 22. I am looking forward to getting back to work but wish that the Part time scheudle was a permanant thing. Not at this point, but who knows.... I just can't imagine not being with Bennett all day every day. I was talking to my girlfriend Kelly who now has 2 kids and asked her what we did wrong! Most all of our mom's were able to stay home with us. All of my friends, including myself have to head back to work! I do like my job so that is a blessing.

Nicole Visits

My sister Nicole came and visited Bennett this past weekend. It was a fun weekend as it was New Market/Elko's annual Fire and Rescue parade and street dance. Brian was of course busy working so it was nice to have the company. While Nicole was with us I also got a couple days of extra sleep. When Bennett woke up she would take him for some quality auntie time and I slept!! Much appreciated!

For those of you who don't know my Grandma made both of us "blankies" when we were born. Nicole is now 32 years old and still carries hers with her EVERYWHERE she goes! She was nice enough to share it with Bennett...he absolutely LOVED it! I've attached some pictures of the two of them and the blankie. It was pretty cute--he really did love it, it was the first time he brought a blanket up to his face. Nicole was nice enough to share it with him while she was here.
